Vitamins and health supplements commonly used in Korea sometimes do not have ingredients approved by the recipient country, or there are cases where the quantity that can be shipped overseas is limited. Even if the product is sold in Korea, if the ingredients of the vitamin or health supplement are classified as unapproved ingredients in the recipient country, customs clearance is difficult. We recommend that the recipient first check with the local customs office to determine whether customs clearance is possible before sending.
Only processed foods with the country of origin and nutritional information indicated on the packaging label can be shipped, while meat and foods containing meat (broth, etc.) cannot be shipped. Processed foods that can be shipped are sometimes randomly inspected by customs officials, and if customs clearance is delayed, the food may spoil or be discarded at the discretion of customs. KoreanJems conducts overseas delivery through several overseas shipping companies, and each shipping company has different service provision methods and benefits. The post office’s International Express Mail (EMS) is operated by shipping companies in each country affiliated with the Korean Post Office, and has low shipping costs, but there are restrictions on weight (maximum 30 kg, 20 kg in some countries) and size (maximum length 1.5 meters, total 3 meters), as well as on the items to be transported (batteries and perishable food items cannot be sent). A special delivery company (DHL, FedEX, Post Office Premium UPS, etc.) monitors all transportation progress from Korea to the recipient country, and it is faster and safer than the post office EMS, has fewer restrictions on weight and size, and can transport lithium batteries. In addition, the loss rate of items is lower than the post office EMS, and if a customs clearance issue occurs at the recipient country’s customs, you can receive help from a designated customs broker. If the difference in shipping costs between the post office EMS and the express delivery service is not large, or if the express delivery service is cheaper, we strongly recommend using the express delivery service for safe transportation.
In the case of special delivery, the following shipments will incur additional shipping costs. Due to the nature of overseas delivery, all shipments that arrive at the recipient country are classified as imports, not simple deliveries like domestic delivery. Depending on the amount and type of the shipment, customs duties and taxes may be levied by the recipient country’s customs office, and the additional standards and amounts may vary depending on the recipient country’s customs laws. Shipments sent by KoreanJems are basically sent under the recipient’s duty-bearing (DDU) condition, and when using a special delivery service, they can also be sent under the condition that the recipient pays the duties and taxes in Korea. (DDP condition, US40 change fee separate, after setting a deposit equivalent to 100% of the product price, the customs office of the relevant country deducts the duties and taxes and refunds the difference) For more detailed information, please contact the customer center before sending the shipment.
Products equipped with lithium batteries cannot be shipped via post office EMS. (Cannot pass through X-ray security checkpoint) Electronic products containing lithium batteries can be shipped via express carriers (DHL, FedEx, UPS, etc.). However, products exceeding 100 watts (e.g. electric bicycles) or any form of spare auxiliary battery not installed in the device are restricted from shipping.
Due to the nature of overseas shipping, the delivery period for each country varies depending on the recipient country and shipping company. Usually, if there are no problems with customs clearance, EMS will be delivered within 5 to 15 days, and special delivery within 2 to 5 days.
When using the purchasing agency service, some coupons or discount benefits may not be applied. All shipments sent from Korea may be inspected by the recipient country’s customs office upon arrival. Depending on the customs officer in charge of customs clearance, there may be cases where the process is difficult. Please understand that we cannot give a definitive answer as we cannot intervene in the local customs office’s customs clearance process. KoreanJems will provide/assist with customs clearance-related information and situations together with the shipping company, but all authority regarding customs clearance lies with the local customs office. Please check the EMS shipping conditions by country to make sure that the shipment you are sending will not have any issues with customs clearance at the destination before proceeding with your purchase delivery.
